Under the Hood
Powering the all-new 2012 Porsche 911 is a rear-mounted,horizontally opposed,6-cylinder engine. The 3.4-liter version is rated at 350 horsepower,and the 3.8-liter is rated at 400 horsepower. Both are mated to a 7-speed manual transmission or an optional 7-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission. Carryover versions of the vehicle are powered by a 3.6-liter engine rated at 345 horsepower and a 3.8-liter rated at 385 horsepower,as well as other engine versions.
Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Porsche 911 lineup range from 19 mpg city to 28 mpg highway,depending on powertrain configuration.
Safety
Standard safety features on the Porsche 911 include stability control and a battery of air bags.
To date,neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety have tested the 2012 Porsche 911.
